Almost all of us can agree that we love the holiday season! All the festive fun, getting together with friends and family, the events and parties, the snow, the cozyness of being warm inside with a hot chocolate, the cookies, oh and did we say events and holiday parties yet? The good times and good food seem like they are never ending! But how do you fit yourself into all that fun stuff? When can you incorporate your health and activity into all the holiday excitement?
At Port Perry Wellness Centre, we prioritize our own and our clients’ health and wellness, and are going to give you a few ideas on how you can stay healthy and active during this fun and busy holiday season!
- Make yourself a calendar/schedule! Carve out time in advance for a workout – even 30 minutes of meditation or yoga to start your day will keep you balanced in the holiday craziness.
- If there is snow, create some holiday fun by making a snow fort or a snowman with your friends and family, or have a good old fashioned snowball fight!
- Try skating as a holiday outing, you know what they say – mash two potatoes with one fork! Tobogganing, snow shoeing, cross country skiing – anything that will get you outdoors with your friends and family.
- If you are going to enjoy the holiday sweets, make sure you fit in healthy meals and lots of water.
- Wake up earlier to make time for you! There is no time like the morning to get stuff done! Also, you will probably have a better sleep at night if you make a conscious effort to hit the hay a little earlier than usual.
- Going to a gym can be hard, especially if you live far away where you need to drive, so try at-home workouts so you can quickly squeeze one in at any free moment! Stay aware of your form and correct posture 🙂
