Adjunctive Therapies

At Port Perry Wellness Centre, we offer a range of adjunctive therapies to complement and enhance your primary treatment plan.

Supporting your recovery with evidence-informed care.

At Port Perry Wellness Centre, we offer a range of adjunctive therapies to complement and enhance your primary treatment plan. These services are used in conjunction with chiropractic care, massage therapy, and other clinical treatments to support recovery, reduce pain, and promote optimal musculoskeletal function.

Adjunctive therapies are not standalone treatments; rather, they serve as powerful tools in your integrated care plan. We strategically use these treatments to relieve discomfort, increase mobility, and accelerate healing.

We Offer the Following Therapies

Acupuncture Service

Acupuncture is available at our clinic as an adjunctive therapy and is performed exclusively by Dr. McLennan, our chiropractor with formal therapeutic training and certification in medical acupuncture. As guided by the regulatory framework for chiropractors in Ontario, this service is provided to address proven clinical indications such as:

  • Musculoskeletal pain
  • Joint dysfunction
  • Neck and back pain
  • Arthritis
  • Neuromuscular conditions

This form of acupuncture is used similarly to modalities like ultrasound or TENS: to reduce inflammation, encourage circulation, and support healing through targeted stimulation of the nervous system. Acupuncture is incorporated as medically appropriate and supported by research.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a manual therapy technique involving the placement of suction cups on the skin to promote blood flow and release tension in the fascia and underlying muscles. This service may be integrated into massage or chiropractic sessions to:

  • Decrease muscle stiffness
  • Improve circulation
  • Reduce fascial adhesions
  • Support recovery from repetitive strain or sports injury

Ultrasound Therapy

Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to penetrate deep into soft tissues, stimulating cellular repair and improving blood flow. This modality is commonly used for:

  • Tendonitis
  • Ligament injuries
  • Scar tissue breakdown
  • Muscle spasms
  • Inflammation management

This is a non-invasive and comfortable treatment to promote tissue healing in both acute and chronic conditions.

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

TENS therapy delivers gentle electrical impulses through the skin to help interrupt pain signals and stimulate the release of endorphins (the body’s natural painkillers). This therapy is often used to:

  • Manage chronic pain
  • Reduce acute discomfort following injury
  • Support nerve-related conditions
  • Enhance muscle re-education and postural correction

Coming Soon: Laser & Red Light Therapy:

We are excited to be introducing laser and red light therapy in the near future! These innovative, non-invasive treatments harness the power of light to stimulate cellular activity and accelerate tissue repair.

Stay tuned as we expand our adjunctive therapy offerings.
